In-Depth Review

Riser

The riser on the Infinite Edge Pro is a solid riser.. Like many bows today, it is machined from a solid piece of aluminum. Overall the riser is fairly small. Its small frame combined with its skeletonized design contribute to the very light 3.2 pounds of overall weight. The light weight is ideal for kids. If it got too heavy, or the riser was too bulky, youth would not be able to hold it steady. The riser is available in 3 finishes, a solid black, mossy oak camo and also a pink camo.

Grip

Like the riser, the grip on this bow is functional, but not over-the-top. You may think, as some have before that it is a little square. Grips that are more square can be a little more uncomfortable to shoot. Although this grip leans toward square, it shouldn’t be enough to detract anyone interested in it. It is designed to accommodate both hands of shooters of all sizes. If you wanted to improve the grip, there are actually companies that manufacture aftermarket custom grips. A custom grip shouldn’t be viewed as a necessity, but might give you a better shooting experience.

Cam System

Like its predecessor, the Infinite Edge Pro has an excellent cam system. This was one area where the folks at Diamond took a close look at how they could improve the bow. They decided to add an extra inch to the draw length adjustment. Now by adjusting the modules on the cams you can change the draw length from 13” to 31”. By adding the extra inch even more folks can enjoy the Edge Pro. It highlights the fact this bow is not just for kids. Anyone can enjoy this bow. Having the adjustable draw length is great, especially for growing archers. In the past as youth outgrew their bow they either needed to buy a brand new bow, or to make one. This obviously would discourage some folks from purchasing a bow for their 5 or 6 year old. Now you can buy a bow for your elementary school student and watch them shoot it through their high school graduation and beyond.

There’s a special setting on the called the ‘Infinity/Bowfishing’ setting. This will allow the bow to operate with zero let-off. In this mode it will maintain most of it’s holding weight for the whole of the draw cycle. This means several people with differing draw lengths can use it without having to adjust the bow. Useful when bowfishing or sharing.

Limbs

The limbs on the Edge Pro are also a major selling point for this bow. They are a solid construction and highly versatile. While many compound bows today have limb bolts that offer a range of draw weights, the Infinite Edge Pro takes it to a whole other level. By turning the limb bolts on this bow you can adjust the draw weight from a dainty 5 pounds, to an elk slaying 70 pounds of draw weight (RMEF). There are numerous advantages of having this much range. The first is for growing kids. As the child ages, the bow simply takes a few turns.

There are other types of archers that can benefit from this adjustability as well. New archers who may not have their back muscles built up, but should as they practice, will have the ability to start light and work their way up. Another type of archer that comes to mind is the experienced archer who is having shoulder issues, or coming off shoulder surgery. Archery is hard on your shoulders, and many archers develop pain in this joint (Stretchcoach). Having the adjustable draw weight could allow an older archer to take the poundage down in the offseason, then ramp it up come hunting season. That way they can still enjoy watching arrows fly, without unnecessary wear and tear.

On a side note, the adjustability comes with a little more shooter responsibility. Moving your bow components around is great, but you have to make sure it is done correctly. When adjusting the limb bolts for example, it is important to they remain equally tightened on both limbs (Diamond Archery). A good way to keep them consistent is to start with them completely tightened, and then alternately backing out each bolt one complete turn at a time.

Styling

When it comes to style the Infinite Edge Pro is par for the course. It comes in three color options, black, mossy oak and pink camo. However, other than that, nothing really makes this bow pop. It has the Diamond logo on the limbs and is built from suitable materials all the way around.

Shooting

Finally, where it counts the Infinite Edge Pro is a very shootable bow. For large and small archers alike, this bow can get the job done. While it is not a top end bow, most folks likely won’t ever outshoot this bow.

The folks at Diamond did make a good improvement in this generation of Edge. They changed the cam design which bumped up the let-off to 80%. An 80% let-off can really make a big difference. Better let-off means the shooter will be holding less weight which can make aiming easier. They were able to accomplish this while still using a smooth draw that will help kids have a good first experience. Engineers also included the solid back wall. Having a solid back wall really improves stability and increases accuracy.

In the noise department the Pro doesn’t have a reputation for being loud, but could use a few accessories to quiet it up. String silencers should be added for someone looking to hunt.

“How does it compare?”

Infinite Edge Pro vs SAS Siege

The SAS Siege. Southland Archery Supply (SAS) is the go-to brand for bargain hunters. They have made a reputation over the years for producing adequate and affordable hunting bows. While the Siege doesn’t have near the range of draw weight, it still ranges from 40-55 lbs. This is enough to hunt deer sized animals and smaller. Also, the Siege has a long axle to axle measurement. Some may find the longer bow cumbersome, but others find it more forgiving. It is all about getting the best bow that fits you. If you are done growing, and just want a simple bow to hunt with, it might be a solid option.

Infinite Edge Pro vs Infinite Edge

The Infinite Edge is the first generation of this lineup. While there were some improvements made in the Pro, the first generation Edge is largely the same. It has a bit smaller axle to axle measurement, and only goes to a 30” draw length. Finally, the Edge has a 75% let-off compared to the Pro’s 80%. All this considered, the first generation has come down in price and can likely be picked up for less than the newer model. If you are looking to save a few bucks, and don’t mind the trade-offs, it might be worth a look. Checkout the full review.

Infinite Edge Pro vs Carbon Knight

The Bowtech Carbon Knight is actually the same company that manufactures the Edge Pro. It does have a few features that serious archers may appreciate. First off, it has a carbon riser and carbon infused limbs. While it still weighs the same as the Pro, carbon won’t get nearly as cold as aluminum, thus a late season hunt should be more enjoyable. The Carbon Knight is a much higher performing bow and can shoot arrows at a distance closing 335 fps. While it isn’t nearly as adjustable as the Pro, the Knight might be a good bow for the adult archer who is looking to go to the next level. Here is the full review.

Infinite Edge Pro vs Genesis Original

If you are looking for a youth bow, but can’t quite settle on the Edge Pro, you might take a look at the Genesis Original. While not the same caliber as the Pro, it can still be an adequate bow for a young first time archer. It allows for adjustable draw weights from 10 to 20 pounds to send arrows downrange. Unlike the Pro, this Genesis bow can only be regarded as a target bow. Even so, it is highly affordable and can instill a love of archery into a young shooter.
